Solar Assessment Across 51 Sites for India's Largest Managed Office Platform
Client: Smartworks, India
Location: 51 sites across 15 cities in India
Engagement: 3 months
About the Client
Smartworks is India’s largest managed office platform. They are a publicly listed company with presence in 15 cities across India and Singapore. Their clients include Fortune 500 companies, GCCs, and fast-growing firms looking for custom-built, value-priced office spaces.
The Challenge
Smartworks wanted to meet their sustainability goals by going solar across their facilities. But their portfolio is large and varied. 51 sites across India. Some buildings had usable rooftop space. Others didn’t. Some were owned, some leased. Each site had different consumption patterns, grid tariffs, and regulatory environments.
They needed someone to evaluate every single site and tell them exactly what was possible. Where can we install rooftop solar? How much capacity? What are the savings? And for sites where rooftop isn’t viable, what are the off-site procurement options?
They needed a clear, data-backed plan covering their entire portfolio.
What We Delivered
We assessed all 51 Smartworks sites across India in 3 months. The output was a complete solar strategy for their portfolio, covering both on-site and off-site options.
Rooftop solar assessment for all 51 sites. We evaluated each site for rooftop solar potential. For every site, we delivered: installable capacity, expected generation numbers, 3D models, percentage energy offset, cost-benefit analysis, and projected savings.
Open Access analysis. For sites where rooftop space was insufficient, we analyzed off-site solar procurement through Open Access and captive solar plants. We calculated savings and cost-benefit for each applicable site across Karnataka, Telangana, and Haryana.
EPC and developer connections. We connected Smartworks with solar EPC companies for rooftop installations and solar developers for Open Access procurement. They got vetted partners ready to execute.
By the Numbers

Result
Smartworks got a complete, site-by-site solar roadmap for their entire India portfolio. They now know exactly how much solar they can install on each building, what it will save them, and where off-site procurement fills the gap. They have the data to make decisions and the vendor connections to execute.
